10 “Blessed [comforted by inner peace and God’s love] are those who are persecuted for [a]doing that which is morally right, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven [both now and forever].
Probably one of the most famous scriptures throughout the ages. Often we tend to associate this with those suffering life threatening persecution. Certainly to the original audience that would have been very much the case.
On a simpler level – how often do we beat ourselves up, allow someones negativity or harsh words to cut us? Often we may wallow in guilt because we were trying to do the right thing in staying true to our Christian convictions of honesty, helping others or modelling ethics but encountered objection. Often as someone else’s moral compass is different from our own.
That is not to say that every action is a correct one, but when we are acting in the nature of God, such adversity must be viewed as a blessing. A chance to learn and perhaps do better next time, but more importantly because we are being persecuted for Christ’s sake.
Be proud and rejoice that you are so strong in the Lord as to stick to your convictions. Be encouraged that you faithfully act in your understanding of His will and thrive in being exhorted in your Faith and love for Christ.
Blessings ~ Andrew
